Meeting all these new people, being in a new environment and house will need adjusting. Because of this, the first few days you should give you undivided devotion to the pup.

If you want to have n easy time while living with the pet, then it is best that you establish a routine. This will not only give the dog a sense of direction, but it will also help your family members to know what to do and when to do it. It will also reduce a situation where you have the dog fed twice, or it has not been fed at all.

The pup should not be left along for a long time. When coming into a new environment it can be very lonely and scary for them, therefore; they need to be around something familiar. Slowly then start leaving the dog alone for a short period at a time progressively until it is comfortable being alone. This is to assist the pup in adjusting to you, to your family members and the house.

Ensure that your kids are aware you are getting a new pet. Prepare them adequately so that they do not treat the puppy as one of their toys. Let them know that the dog is a new member of the family and should receive good treatment. They should not interfere with its schedule.

The other thing that you need to do is to prep your home. Remember that the puppies are known to be chewy due to teething. They are likely to chew anything that they find in their way. Keep all your valuables out of reach so that the pet does not chew them. At the same time put away anything that can harm the dog like chords and any choking hazards. Buy enough chew toys to keep the puppy busy.

Most importantly, ensure that the pet you buy is healthy. You can do this by making sure you buy from a reliable and trusted breeder with a good reputation. If your dog is unhealthy, all the preparation you will have done will be quite useless and make things hard for you. Take the dog to a vet to be sure they are healthy. A good vet doctor will give you a clean bill of health band you can take the dog home.
