7 Redwing was a nice surprise up at the whoosh site on Tuesday. I started ringing at Ramsey Harbour  trailer park again where another 31 Linnets and a Stonechat were ringed. Also i met up with Kev and we tried to catch some of the Juv Mute Swans that are now wintering in the harbour, only one caught as the rest got a bit wise as to what we were upto also a Herring Gull was colour ringed.
The week ended with another 10 New Twite colour ringed and another Machrihanish Twite controlled.
Once home i opened the nets in the garden and to my surprize a cracking male Brambling was waiting for me 10 minutes later, we don't seem to get that many on the island and the last one i caught was on the 12/11/2011 a year and a day apart.

Twite
A rather tame Rook has come to stay in the garden and walks around my feet when i am feeding the birds, it sits on the garage roof and grunts at me i think to feed it but maybe to swear at me, as it has been ring and extracted from my nets 3 times in the last two days and isn't phased by anything. Will get some photos if Roger, that's his name is still about next week.
