You are probably wondering right now if you should be getting a pet or not. In fact most of the people you know do have pets and seem to be very happy with their pets. Right now you may be deciding on a dog as a possible pet and companion as soon as you saw the French bullies for sale sign earlier. The French Bulldog, or popularly known as the French Bully, is a mastiff popularized during early Greek times. It was bred for the bloody sport of bull baiting. Phoenician traders were responsible for the dispersal of the breed around Europe. When bull baiting as a sport was outlawed, many of these mastiffs were out of a job and so they were used largely for domestic purposes, such as pets.

The breed is quite similar to the British bulldog, with a compact body and short legs, but being much smaller with more erect ears. In terms of temperament, it is much tamer than its British counterpart, and one will not have a hard time leaving this breed with small children, and also other animals and dogs in the home.

Although the dog loves to crave attention most of the time, something that many of us may find irritating, they do make excellent companions. They will let you know by yodeling out their disappointment, what most owners call as the French death yodel. The females of this breed are very protective of their young and also of people around them. Thus you can be sure that they will be very protective of your children as well if left alone with them.

Small spaces and living conditions will pose no problem for this canine. And just like the British bulldog, can be considered as the ultimate indoor dog. It is content being inactive a majority of the time, but this does not mean it does not need some regular outdoor exercise. It is recommended that you at least take it out for a walk for at least 30 minutes a day.

Since this dog has a compact airway due to its size, and also it has somewhat of a snub nose, it will have difficulty in regulating its temperature. Many deaths have occurred due to extreme heat or cold conditions, the latter occurring due to its fairly thin coat of fur. This is not the dog for you if you live in areas with extreme temperature conditions. This dog lives best in a temperate environment or climate.

When the French bully ages, it will have a tendency to have eye related conditions and problems. In addition this dog also does not have a very long lifespan average at the least about eight to ten years. Life spans o course can be longer depending on how much care you are willing to give to them.
