One of the most famous pets alive is the newfie puppies.

In ancient Canada, somewhere around 1600, the pet was discovered. They were found in a place called Newfoundland within the country. It is described as a rare kind of breed because it is a mixture of the Viking dogs and the mastiffs from Portuguese. In the beginning, people from that area were not allowed to keep more than one dog in their homes. This resulted in their low numbers. In the long run, people were allowed to export them to most countries within Europe. This is made them become more popular.

These puppies fall in the rare breed category because of the physical anatomy. They are a bit shorter than all the others described by a height of 56-76 cm. An average animal weighs between 50-69 kg but sometimes the weight may go up to 90kg. In addition, they have a broad head, small eyes, and triangular ears. The fur on their body is quite enormous and is similar to those of cats.

Once upon a time, the puppies rescued a great leader in modern history. There was a time when Napoleon Bonaparte was running away from his enemy called Elba. In addition, they also took part in moving fishing nets and saving soldiers who were in danger. Therefore, they are credited with this useful function of being loyal.

Anyone would love to have this dog for a pet because of their companionship. They are able to befriend other animals in most instances as well. Nevertheless, it is important to note that they can become irritated if they feel threatened; a unique nature in all other dogs.

This pet is very active in so many ways. Unlike other dogs, they love to swim. Hair on the body enables them to withstand very cold weather. In fact, they do not do well in areas of warm climate.

The growing popularity in this animal has made may pet lovers to request for ownership. Before one adopts a puppy, they are advised to go through a series of assessments to verify if they are in a position to own one. They are advised on various medical measures they need to take in case the puppy develops a disease. In fact, they are only released to the new owner if they are sure the conditions will be fully met.

It is mandatory to conduct a proper survey on the dogs first before requesting for them. Taking care of them may be costly because most of the times, they need to be well groomed. This is done because their fur is bound to get tangled. The sight of tangled dog hair may be quite unsightly. Consequently, the dog needs to be monitored closely by their vets.
