That poses difficult when it comes to choosing a breeder to people who are not aware of what to look for. Finding a good Labrador retriever breeder may be very difficult in some cases. To some breeders, dog breeding is only a hobby that they engage in on a part-time basis. They are usually engaged in another full-time job most part of their day. Such breeders can be a real turn off if one is not aware of that. As such, it is important to consider several breeders and to be selective in the choice. The individual one settles for should be highly experienced and very knowledgeable in the field of animal breeding.

Before one settles for a given breeder, they must make sure that they visit the facility where they conduct their breeding. It is good to see the parents that birthed the puppies before buying. The appearance and temperament of the puppies after they are grown can be determined by their parents. One should check elsewhere if they are not pleased by the parents.

When visiting, it is good to look at the facility carefully. Its condition must be good with the floors, walls, and other surfaces appearing clean. It should be odorless and tidy. It is very important to allow the puppies to reach a good age before taking them away from their mother. For proper growth and well-being, the puppy needs to mature and socialize with its littermates and mother enough before being separated. Thus, only puppies older than 12 weeks should be bought.
